Logan Terness enters transfer portal
The Huskies lose one of their two starting goaltenders from last season.
UConn men’s hockey’s first entrant into the transfer portal is a big one: Sophomore goaltender Logan Terness. Mark Divver first reported the news.
After playing in just one game as a freshman, Terness split time with freshman Arsenii Sergeev between the pipes this past season. He started 17 of 35 games, owning a 2.53 goals against average and .913 save percentage along with a 9-6-1 record and one shutout.
Terness got the nod in the Huskies’ season opener at Vermont and led the rotation through the first half of the season and became the first goalie to play in back-to-back games. However, his campaign turned when he allowed six goals to Cornell — a performance that had less to do with him and more about the players in front of him.
Prior to Cornell, Terness held one of the top GAAs and save percentages in the nation. Afterwards, he struggled with consistency. The sophomore put together one of his best performances of the season against Northeastern in early February but slowed too many soft goals in his last action at Boston College.
Sergeev led the rotation after the winter break and started both games during the CT Ice Tournament. In the postseason, Sergeev earned the starting job in the quarterfinals.
Terness is UConn’s only player in the portal at the moment.
