The UConn Hockey Hub is moving to a new home. Last year, we transitioned from Patreon to Substack and now we’re going to Beehiiv.
What will be different?
As a subscriber, not much. You’ll still receive newsletters from us without disruption. The font and layout of each email may look a bit different, but the content that you’ve signed up for (whether as a free subscriber or a paid one) will remain exactly the same.
You don’t need to do anything to prepare for the change.
Why are we making this change?
There’s a few reasons, but the main one is Twitter. A few months back, Substack launched its own social media platform, which didn’t go over well with Elon Musk. As a result, he blocked Substack links from being opened or interacted with on Twitter. The two sides eventually came to an agreement, but we’re still unable to embed tweets here and any links we send out get less visibility on Twitter.
We moved the UConn WBB Weekly, our women’s basketball newsletter, over to Beehiiv last month and now the UConn Hockey Hub will follow.
This move will also allow us to put all our coverage of the UConn hockey programs in one place. Previously, we our stories between The UConn Blog and the hockey hub. Now, everything will be in one place with its own dedicated website and URL: UConnHockeyHub.com.
There, we’ll continue to have all the coverage you’ve come to expect from us along with an updated database of UConn men’s hockey’s commitments, statistics and much more.
In case of trouble
While we’ve worked to make this transition as smooth as possible, there are inevitably kinks that will need to be worked out. Currently, our plan is to send out the first story from Beehiiv later this week. If you don’t see that or any future stories in your inbox, first check your spam folder. If it’s not in there, email me at UConnWBBWeekly@gmail.com and I’ll help you sort it all out.
Feel free to reach out with any other questions as well.
The UConn Hockey Hub 3.0
The UConn Hockey Hub will be entering its fourth season once the puck drops in November. In that time, we’ve grown from a small operation with only a handful of paid subscribers on Patreon to a full-fledged outlet covering the team. Just as the Huskies are expected to build on last year’s success, we plan to be better than ever as well.
